Final Cut Server: Imagining the Possibilities

Posted on Saturday, December 5th, 2009 by Jason

For a slightly different perspective on Apple’s Final Cut Server software, check out this article I wrote for “Creative Solutions.”

Here is a taste:

“What is the real potential of the intersection of data processing and digital media? How can Final Cut Server lead to new ways of thinking about media production and consumption? What can we make with this tool that can help communicate and understand the world in deeper and more meaningful ways?”

Color Workflows

Posted on Friday, January 25th, 2008 by Jason

Color is hot!

Since Rob came back from being part of the first group certified by Apple to teach the new app, the interest is intense.  Check his piece on Lynda.com  – this is the best introduction to the software that I have seen so far.

Of course, a lot of the excitement from our point of view is in the workflow area. There are definitely some new media management conundrums to be unraveled and new paths to be discovered – we love that.

And, from another point of view, a lot of the interest is economic.  Are we seeing yet another post production task conquered by the desktop Mac platform?

Thanks!

I wanted to give a shout to all of the people who have give positive feedback on the book since it’s been out. It’s great to hear from you all!

To those who are looking for the web chapters – some will be up soon, but still a little longer for the Final Cut Server stuff. We don’t know any more than you do on that . . .

Is the Honeymoon Over?

Posted on Wednesday, November 21st, 2007 by Jason

The book has been officially available for almost a week, and i noticed that our sweet 34% discount on Amazon is over . . .

Of course, we have no control over this, but at 34% off, we could get the book cheaper from Amazon then the publisher will sell us extra copies direct.

Anyway, check Google products to find the best price:
